Daughter of the Heart

Daughter of The Heart (written from a woman's perspective) When you wondered if we could be friends I wanted the idea to make me glad Yet inside I felt a twinge of sad Part of me felt bad For I know I cannot be I wish to offer something with more substantiality For I know our relationship has much more complexity. My desire is to usher you towards your serenity I want you to know I'm still here Even though you are moving Don't worry or fear To me you will always be dear Listen with your heart not with ears I feel your anxiety and share your tears Let me reflect back your strength like a million mirrors For I have witnessed your amazing all these years You truly are my daughter of the heart Always with me even when we're apart New beginnings are important I celebrate your fresh start Knowing you are strong I'm confident you'll be okay For your happiness I will continue to pray Navigate life's adventure enjoy the music you play travel on ruby slippers Walk amidst the light this way At night bask in moonlit wonder Off beaten paths don't be afraid to stray Shadows evaporate night always gives way to day Tell me about your adventures No detail too small For I will cherish it all Stand tall Follow your heart's call Drink from crystal clear streams Dance in the glow of moonbeams Life can be the stuff of all your dreams

Richard, I found this poem very emotional to read, it made me think so much of my mother, I told her everything ''no detail was too small'', sadly my mother now resides in heaven but in life and in death she always gave me wings to fly, wonderful poem, beautifully penned, I am loving this 7

Thanks for such a thoughtful visit. I wrote this for my wife as a gift for one of her clients who is moving away. So it is from her perspective.

This is a fond look at a departure with a blessing. My own experience (even as a man) is that these partings have an element of pain and sadness as well as the joy and good wishes as you point out. Yes we are glad, and we know it has to be. But time goes by just too fast. It's not easy being a caring parent.

It shows the true talent of a poet to be able to write from such a different perspective than your own, this was very moving, and the first person I thought of when you wrote this was Eileen! I see already, she loved it!!! :)

An excellent write, Richard. Straight away my mind clicked on Eileen and her daughter; in fact I scrolled down to see if she had commented, and lo and behold...I was right on all counts:) #7 ~ Regards // paul

When a child departs it is difficult to change that relationship from parent/ child to friends but when done right it can be spectacular. Well done Richard

To step into the mind of a Mom relaying a message to her daughter, well that's no easy task my friend but you have painted a vivid picture of that bond with gracious words. So we'll crafted by a truly gifted poet. Blessings brother, Carl

P.S. Just thought I'd point out, I think you might mean "you're" in the line "For I witness your amazing all these years." ... not to be nit-picking, but just helping :)

So wonderfully endearing, and a great tribute, that any daughter (or son) would love to hear from their parents. Love the tone and sincerity.

No matter how much we love them we need to let them try their wings It goes for the boys too so it is not one sided ever. Love Mom

Richard....Richard. This is all I want to tell my daughter. Oh...it is priceless. So beautiful...everything I want to express. I'm so touched by this moving piece. She left this morning....she's gone. Her room is empty again...and so is my heart, but she was a bit stronger...and has since messaged me and told me she arrived Ok and she is determined to be happy. Thank you for sharing this.....Bless you for it. I will now read it again...Hugs

It's so hard to let our kids go, I think it's even harder for moms. Mary also cried when I read this one to her.

Life can indeed be challenging for any woman to watch her daughter of the heart fly with those wings...If I ever get to that departing stage from my girl,I wish to be as loving, strong and brave offering a wise advice like this woman you describe..Awesome.
