Dad

Where will I go now? Who to ring when things look bad? When life’s given me a problem. I’ve always rung my dad. You see, he’s always been there. Always known just what to say. But now he’s going to leave us. And that’s just not OK. We knew that he was unwell, I mean we knew he had things wrong. But we thought we had more time left, Didn’t know there wasn’t long. With very little notice, We’re now told he will die. It’s cruel and unforgiving, Little time to say goodbye. He’ll never leave my memory, Although he may be gone. He’s been my life and everything, And through me, he’ll live on. For now we’ll reassure him, And tell him he’ll be missed. Tell him though we’re lost without him, In our hearts he’ll still exist. Although we may not look it Of course we’re not alright. But we can’t let this defeat us; As a family we’ll unite Cause time won’t be the healer, That people say she will; You might not know from my demeanour; But my heart is shattered still.
