Crossroads

At some stage in a turbid life, Temptation stalks around the bend. The devil waits with a friendly smile At the cross-road time we spend. The cross-roads are our troubled time, where sin and prayer do blend; If we can read the devils smile, God wins out in the end. For prayer is our line to heaven to rejoice in every day through teaching from our saviour, may life always stay that way. But hellfire is sent to tempt us; and destroy us too they may! If we choose to take the devil’s route when at the cross-roads we delay. We've all been to the cross-roads, where temptation seems a friend … Through love, faith and prayer God wins out in the end.

Ah yes the exciting and tempting cross-roads!! As you point out, we sometimes need help to stay on the right path. I think when I was young, I found out that acting without adequate self-control was a very destructive process. Some people have a hard time with that lesson, and we need all the help we can get from here and there. Your poem is quite insightful. You choice of words and images is well done!!

Hello Duke ... a problem with being youthful is the misguided thought that it's cool to buck authority and that's when a wise auricle is needed for a gentle prod in the right direction. Thanks again Duke - Lindsay

"There is none righteous no not one" Rom. 3:10 Sin is committed right there when we think we're more righteous than other people...the devil is already laughing... Good one, Lindsay!

Still nodding at the 'Vivquote.' I've lived by it all my life ... not. We are lucky that we can make choices, even if they end up haunting us. Every day is Australia Day for me Viv and I love it - thanks matey - Lindsay

You have a good point there, Lindsay. Temptation does its best and we do not always avoid its clutches, but we are fortunate in being able to make up for where we go wrong. I liked Connie's comment, too:) // paul
