Crossroads
I’m standing at the corner
of “I don’t know what to do”
I’ve been standing at this corner
since I was three, or two
I’m sitting at the bus stop
of “I don’t know where to go”
& I’ve been sitting at this bus stop
for 50 years or so
But now the light has changed
at this lonely intersection,
and thawed, unfrozen, I
begin a new reflection –
The corner’s at the crossroads
of “yes” to life, or “no”
and the bus for which I’ve waited
will never, ever show
---
See, I can only do the things I do,
and go the where I go
For there’s never anything else to do
and no place else to go
