Crossing the Desert

The road through wilderness snaked The ocean of sand its bosom bared Thorny plants skywards stared Mirages stood, in falsehood draped The rain too made a hasty retreat No sound to break the eerie conceit The nocturnal beings too walked in stealth The dunes too, unsure souls, mislead The lonely traveler felt a void in his chest Where the heart had once snugly dwelt

the desert is what we are and who we are at some points in life - hoping that the skies open once in a while and when it does life blooms in the weary heart and fills it will love and warmth again - how true the words in your poems are
