Cottage in the Wood

Arms crossed, pacing back and forth
poking and prying in every corner
peering in closets, turning on faucets
humming softly and talking to yourself
You glanced back at me and smiled
knowing you had found our place
our place to grow old together
our cottage in the wood

I live in our cottage in the wood
I live in our cottage alone

Look at it now
Look at this place
Look what has become of it
Look what has become of me

Tim, it is so fascinating to come and see who has written these poems!!! I am seeing a comment I made to you a long time ago on this one. My memory sure is bad because I completely forgot you wrote this. Congrats in my contest. If it had had more imagery, it would have soared to the top!!!

wow, tim, this one for some reason is the most effective of the heartbreak poems I am reading today. I think for the way you ended it. The stark contrast in what you are saying. Awesome, and congrats on your win.

I have come back to this poem, Tim...for it speaks to me......only this time through the eyes of my daughter who lost her young husband in November. There are reminders everywhere she is if you wrote it for her too. I know I commented before...but I'm drawn back to how it must feel. Thanks again for sharing.
