Contemplation - Rumi
CONTEMPLATION - RUMI
Alone, atop a stony perch, I sit
entranced by the unmoving road
which unlike the moving river
flows neither - to or from- just is.
In the darkly stained pavement
I seek evidence of man’s true nature
await a vision of his divinity
seek his connection to his God.
A light rain swirls in oily rainbows
earthbound aurora reflecting moonlight
a miniature solar system resplendent
in the charisma of its stirring milky way.
Adrift upon this mist of color,
reaching to touch the edges of life
peace finds me rooted to a broken barrier
pleading with myself to release its hold.
I glimpse the eternity of presence
denied – not to me – but by me
retreat into the loneliness of fear
feel the cold wet rain flow past.
