Color Coded

If I could leap up so high That I could fly Away from troubled times Of times gone by When color was enough to hang a man Hear the despair, hear the cry Most things come in colors So why can't you and I At times I hang my head in shame For the evil done by man To a human of different hue Shame on me, shame on you Were we all of the same color Where would prejudice be found Perhaps were my hair blond Yet your hair was brown Prejudice is like an acid Oozing out through every pore Destroying all it touches As it destroys your very core Asian, Anglo, Latino Arabian, or of African descent We are humans of this world Let us live hand in hand
