Cobwebs
Again and again, the spider spreads
Her net on the busy highway -
Cobwebs of metal strings;
To trap the wondering fly,
And again devour a soul.
Early birds look out for worms,
But when wayward and blind,
They become victims of cobwebs;
Then all hope is lost
And the worm is spared.
So watch out, travelers at dawn!
For cobwebs have laid ambush
To charm the wayward birds,
And silence the morning melody
Of the beloved songbird.
