Change Is In the Water

Strands of change that tug On baited hooks of fear Stretching taut skins of surety Resilient and tense Anxious ripples disturbing familiar tides The comfortable ins and outs of life Unsettled in the murky waters Unseen and unheard there before With no reflections of respite Not one thing seems the same, And you think she hates you , But it’s your hate that is reflected in the only stillness here, Her eyes. Only time relaxes transitional strands From your flesh The hooks no longer pulling, but anchoring Lapsing hours bring comfort now Reinforced by realisation: Wherever you are You can save yourself You, your sole steadfast companion That needs no reflection to breath And no direction to swim
