Chance Meeting

I breathed shallow as I looked at the others,
A uniform change of newly formed lovers.

I strained forward like a greyhound on a chain,
Until finally, I found her loneliness and pain.

I remember too, her being much bigger than I,
A smile of electrical force reached my starlit sky.

A bit stiff, unconscious of being pretty,
I pitied other girls who weren't quite as witty.

Often she was seen with Venus braids very big,
Looking like commercials for California figs.

I applauded her use with masks of Ivory soap,
The color of her eyes made me able to cope.
