This poem is a bit of an exaggeration about me, as I am not as rebellious as I put on. But, I do struggle with these tendencies. I tend to be an independent, disorganized, daydreamer type person.

Cavalier, mischievous am I who, with my rebellious bent flaunt my freedom, yes, I despise the status quo, with a great distaste for the all the rules. To keep the letter of the law is oh so boring, oh so dull. It stifles creativity and expression what use is it, say I? My careless ways have seemed to catch up with me, of late. What a haphazard life I lead! So many of life's decisions turn out to be mistakes tossed and turned about by my myopic eye. I must admit, things have not gone so well, I stumble and I fall. This monster of wanting my own way has gotten out of hand, I say. To where shall I go to turn the tide, make a break fling off this crucible of pride? I fall down on my knees and repent, my sins spill out before the throne of God I'm spent. Sweet comfort, for He forgives He picks me up, helps me to live the way that I was meant to be for Him, not only just for me. Written on 9/25/3015

BIG congrats on your win Laura...Your strong faith shines like a beacon in the night here in spite of your rebellious spirit and maybe BECAUSE of it too...Your personality reminds me so much of my oldest daughter who also found God and is now a born again Christian...Jesus was a rebel too - Tim

Thank you for your kind words, Tim! I am not as rebellious as this poem lets on, but can be if I let things get away from me. I think all our hearts can be this way apart from God's saving grace! Thanks for enjoying my poem, and your kind words. God bless :)

I really enjoyed reading this. I am sure you are not as prideful as you say. We all have a bit of being headstrong and disorganized! And most of us poets are indeed dreamers!

Thanks, Andrea. I have gotten a little better over the years because I'm married to a very organized person...he still complains about the messy house, sometimes...I try :/

An iconoclast of sorts, but with divine guidance. Very enjoyable read Laura!

Yes, I fight against conformity, and yet Jesus was an iconoclast in His day. What a juxtaposition! When I submit to God, I am happiest.
