Brown

Brown coat, brown hair, brown eyes… Brown smothers me with thoughts of you How warmly, earthly, do you smile Brown is with me all the while Truly, each dirt path I pass or trod Reminds me still that you too walk, With those brown dress shoes And a brown frown too Perhaps a brownie will tame thoughts of you! How sweet this chocolate is, Almost as bubbly as your guffaw- Deep, masculine, strong With purpose, humorous—then gone I listened to you speak As intelligent as before And your brown briefcase opens As my heart sinks to the floor Once or twice I have thought You no longer care that I’m around But then I always remember what you were and are- Friendly, smart, funny, warm…and brown

This is a grand verse as always, sister Laura! :) This made me wear an upside down frown! Brown is a good color! I liked the style, the rhythm, and the words...so priceless and it's crystal clear that this is a memory of someone you once adored? Good job! I rate this a 7.

Again I'm amazed that no one has commented. This is a terrific piece of writing. I enjoyed the warmth of this piece and the underlying melancholy. Your description gave your subject solidity.
