Boring Brown
I always wanted deep blue eyes
Or the green of forestry
But all I got was boring brown
As plain as plain could be.
Boring brown and dark as earth
With not a hint of light
Not bright or spark could ever be
In eyes as dark as mine
Till one day, I met a girl
With the brightest eyes I’ve seen
They shone right through the darkness
And shined as brilliant as stars could be
But her soul within had lost all light
And her veins would flow with ice
Her heart beat not for love nor hope
And her blue eyes would never bleed
I realized now I’d rather have
The eyes as dark as mine
That proved my soul could still be seen
Behind the drapes it hides
So I wished not
For forestry
Or the oceans of the deep
Instead I wished
Others would see
The life and soul in me
