Bonfire Night

Sky lightening up
flares and flashes
arching high above

Pretty sparklers in
kids gloved hands
waving circling

Loud bangs from rockets
as they explode showering
multi bands of colour

Catherine wheels
spinning round
a visual delight

Guy on top of bonfire
soon is well ablaze
warming cold hands

Display now done
kids head for bed
to dream of it again

Great write Shadow, this one surely takes me back to my childhood in Peckham, London. We are not allowed to light fireworks here In Australia because of the danger of bush fires. I enjoyed your poem, my friend...Peter

hi Peter bush fires can do so much damage so it is a wise rule. I have been watching Outback Truckers and your wet season reminds me greatly of Africa. Ty for reading Shadow x smile
