Black Spots

BLACK SPOTS There are black spots in my memory of the bad things I have done, The times when I resisted the call of God’s dear Son. Experiences of danger, of trials or disgrace— I wish I could forget them, from my mind there erase. The black spots often haunt me, I often wonder why I was so vain and foolish; I shudder and I cry. But in those spots of memory one brilliant light now shines: The day I trusted Jesus and made Him personally mine. Now all black spots remembered in my troubled, carnal mind Are failures He can’t see there and never more will find. When I face Him in judgment, no black spots he will see, And I’ll be free forever of all bad memory. Though black spots are so dismal and haunting in MY mind, I’m glad that God can’t see them, His grace has been so kind. The black spots are in darkness below the deepest sea, As far as east from west is He’s cast eternally! Thank God for His forgiveness! Thank God that He has not Remembered any failure or any dark, black spot!
