Beaten
Slippery, spattered red stains the kitchen walls and floor
Scents of death, alcohol and anger set the score
She lies helplessly with no shelter on the ground
While he thinks he’s entitled to kick her around
Her daughter came home to endure this whole mess
There was going to be a murder and no one to confess
Her mother screamed in agony and blood curdling pain
The girl sat in her room thinking she would go insane
She cried out to God, but did not feel the change of the earth
So she called upon her daddy, who died before her birth
An outline of an angel appeared in the corner of her room
She suddenly felt the strength of an oncoming monsoon
With tear streaked courage, she ran into the middle of his fight
Stood right in front of him, pleading for him to see the light
Then something happened and he backed away slow
Maybe her daddy’s angel decided to partake in the show
The girl threatened the life of the man of no use
After that moment there was a complete end to the abuse
Whether it was her or the spirit that made him lower his fist
It may never be known although he seemed to have gotten the gist.
