Banquet Blues- Part II

Yet, there at the table…I couldn't help but sway and dance in my seat. Yes, dance while throwing my black mane out behind me, my arms moving in sync with the beat. My students looked at me and smiled, surprised to see this "crazy" side of me. I smiled, mouthing the words of the songs and blowing kisses. If only they knew that I had been a beauty too.

Thankfully, Lina had to leave early. She had two young boys waiting at home. I tried to avoid all the picture taking, so I walked on ahead of her, trying very hard not to dance to the music that was filling the hall, but it was not to be. My students wouldn't let me go. “Dance,” they pleaded….and I did! As they gathered around, I did a few of “my moves”…smiling and feeling exhilarated…free. They loved it. I loved it. A moment of youth...captured, seized, lived....

Nobody saw me in the car on the way home, fighting to hold back the tears. Not wanting Lina to know I was about to cry, I turned to look out the window. Now, finally, here I am at home, pouring my heart out to you. Where is the woman I used to be? Where is that beautiful sultry me? I want to recapture who I was…beautiful, slim, vibrant, gregarious, lively, passionate, fun loving…I want to be free! I want to be ME!

We all have to say goodbye to our youth eventually Eileen, sometimes it's not easy but it's not the end of the world, There's a whole new life out there waiting to be lived and if you're not still all those things you say you want to recapture, you've done a pretty good job of fooling us. Take care, Richard

I LOVE the story--but young lady--you are you. When we think of those times we have to remember what went with the youthfulness, the insecurities, the immaturity that made us less attractive to ourselves, however, if we could go back knowing what we know now? That wouldn't work either because our maturity would get in the way of the free flowing fun we had. The bottom line is you are you and all of life is to be savored. Although I must say I felt like you at your age. You are still beautiful!

Thanks, Craig. I find it hard to accept when people tell me I am beautiful...I usually just brush the compliment aside. I genuinely appreciate your kind words of encouragement. Bless you

Based on the description of the evening I would say she is alive and well. It is sad you don't still see yourself that way. You have no lack of sex appeal Eileen, it flows from every fibre of your being.

Your post I will treasure, Richard. Thank you kindly for trying to lift my spirit. It will take a while to get over this hurdle, but....I must try.
