Way back there in the fifties,
When I was just a kid,
I’d hear me all those grown up folk,
And watch the things they did.
Hey! All those double standards,
And all that carry on!
So many rules and regulations,
So many rights and wrongs.

They’d tell me “little children
Should be seen but never heard”
And greeted me with ridicule
When I used my own sweet words
Which now I still call wisdom
Though they just called it rot.
It was then I learned, authority,
It didn’t mean a lot.

Those other Gods, the teachers?
Well they did make me laugh;
They’d teach us evolution
And then {It did seem daft}
They’d teach us what the Bible said
And the two would contradict
Sometimes I thought “They’re crazy,
I’m bloody sure of it!”

And then the army came along.
Now things they did go mad.
They took all my emotions,
And all the love I had.
And now, I never listen
To those who say “I know”
I just follow me my heart song
And see where that will go.

    Thank you so much Ilene for your kind comments. I think that self reliance is the only way to go. There are too many experts in this world....Peter
