At the Foot of the Cross

At the foot of the cross what would we see? if we had been there what would our verdict be? Standing on holy ground there on Golgotha’s hill seeing God’s son die all in God’s holy will See the thorn-filled crown upon the Saviour's head hear the mockery and abuse such was the awful dread Hear God’s son plead to His father in heaven why have you forsaken me? as His life was being given Then as Jesus was crucified breath His very last there the curtain was torn the old way was past God’s new kingdom had come but if then we had looked up would we have believed? seeing Jesus drink His bitter cup So when we look back at these events today Jesus is Lord and king is that what we pray?

Very beautifully written Gordon. The cross was the turning point as you said and God's Son bore unbearable burdens on our behalf. Praise His Holy Name.

Your faith shines through this moving poem about the crucifixion, Gordon...I saw your comment on my movie blog and this reminded me of that brutal but true depiction of how Jesus suffered...'Passion of the Christ' - Tim
