Asking the Coral Moon To Paint the Tropical Night Blue
This lonely, calm island,
not bigger than Portland
is our escape from reality...
in it there's much possiblity.
Even the happy lovers on Venice's lagoon
will envy our secretive, peaceful place;
wouldn't they pay the largest fortune
for a night under the moon's alluring face?
You, sweet joy, lay on my chest...
let the bright clouds carry your serene dreams far away;
while you tremble under my caress...
how sublime is to see those green palm trees sway!
I, lover and friend, will obey any command:
whisper it, or write it in the shimmering, silver sand;
I will look away as if I had no curiosity or clue...
asking the coral moon to paint the tropical night blue.
