As the Pendulum Swings

There is a grandfather clock, very tall To help keep time as it stands in the hall The pendulum moves slowly side to side It cannot work if it swings far too wide. And if it stops swinging time will stand still It must be wound gently with patience ‘n skill If kept in balance both steady and strong Time will always be right, never be wrong. Life swings like that pendulum on the wall Too far left, too far right, reason will fall You need a little of both to think straight Take off the blinders, for reason can’t wait. To achieve a balance, look at each view Find one right for all, not for just a few.

You might want to send a copy of this one to the congress or even the President to read to the congress and the house. Although, I doubt they would understand it. They're not exactly the sharpest tools in the shed. Great sonnet, Mrs Betty.
