As She Walked Away
As She Walked Away
He watched her walk away that day
The tears ran down his nose
Her walk was frisky from behind
She knew just how to pose
A new man led her sure and strong
And he could feel her smile
His heart ached like he'd lost it all
As she left him in style
He recalled those soft summer nights
When they would ride 'til dawn
He'd rub her shoulders gently then
'Til all the ache was gone
Then they'd stand high on mountain tops
While she would breathe the air
They'd watch the world as it rolled by
Without a single care
He'd never seen beauty like hers
As proud as he could be
Other men would stare and whisper
None walked as proud as she
Then hard times came and raised their head
He was forced to sell her
He was a horse breeder, that's all -
Not a wealthy feller
