Arms That Are Empty
Again now at cusps of fresh beginnings,
Gathering supplies to travel this road,
Careful to measure what two arms will hold,
Gauging with patience the estimate flows,
Thoughtful precision utmost in the mind,
Come to the doorway laden with purchase,
Advancing determined to open the heart,
Unwilling to drop all the items selected,
Finding no freedom to reach for the knob,
Standing uncertain and laden with burdens,
How to let go of these items so chosen,
How to release, how to put down the stores.
Trusting in hope and the promise of entry;
The arms that are empty may open the door.
