Arise My Son
Arise now my son
Life’s hardships will trouble you no more
Unfettered by earthly bonds
Spread your wings and ascend to grace
For there you will find old and new friends
Who have patiently awaited your arrival
They have seen your tender heart
And a smile to add to the light
Now begins a new journey
One filled with timeless wonder
Announce your arrival with music
Sing your name loudly to the angels
You ran a good race
Beside you I was proud to run
Together, as one, we lost and won
And now I can tell of your victory
But I must finish as well
As my feet still trod the course
An endless hill rises before me
And I am tired and worn
So I pray to your Father and mine
To see me through my fear
Of failing to finish in glory
And persevering in my struggles
Allow my boy to guide me
With whispers of encouragement
And a son’s unconditional love
To a father who is sorely in need
Let me see the finish line
Help me overcome my earthly loss
And with arms outstretched
Let me be held in my son’s arms for eternity
