Apathetic

And she smiles in my face But if I say nothing, she is without a trace She's always on my mind but she doesn't seem to care A one way love can never be fair For while the recipient feels apathetic The lover can only be pathetic Wallowing in his lowly fantasy Dreaming of a distant future of serenity Living an empty world, reflecting an empty soul No second half to complete a whole Nothing to raise my spirits as we remain separated far I only wish nothing could tear us apart Nothing in this fleeting world of diminishing time Just an impossible mountain we've been charged to climb As we grip onto falling boulders I only wish I was on your safe shoulders Because coupled is the only way we can climb this hill Otherwise I can't see how we'd do this by will But here we are Aligned above you are the stars A constellation of an arrow facing your direction The cure to my life, diseased with you, my infection Though perhaps the arrow is pointing past you Through you, telling me to move on from this woo You're probably not worth it, and ignorantly I hadn't a clue My soulmate, there's no celestial sign indicating who Only the gray winds and changing feelings Flawed logic in need of gross healing But this one does not hold me as highly as I do with her And I am intoxicated in love's seductive myrrh She remains in a state of apathy Her life goes on and her world spins affably Me the unnecessary variable, the marginal tragedy As my heart beats on with this fatal malady
