An Open Letter To the Next One

Dear You, Be careful with her heart. She's tender in the places you don't expect her to be. She cries when you're not looking, though dry tears, she cries still. Take care of her. Walls to protect her pop up faster than you can count; beat her to them and help to knock them down. She will forgive willingly but not as easily forget. She doesn't want to rid herself of memories. She knows her boundaries and expects you to join her on the ride. If you're not careful, you'll break her. And if you're too careful, she'll leave. Watch her grow before you and nurture her changes. She's beautiful, remind her when she forgets. Sometimes she doesn't have control and it makes her crazy, love her anyway. Although you may not be the last one, you are the next one. Make that count for something. And remember she'll keep your fingerprints on her mirrored heart. Good luck, Me
