Amber Millions of years ago A tree stood in the tropical heat Then something happened A wound opened It just cut through the bark Still the tree bled A thick golden syrup Swallowing all it touches Until it reaches the grass below The tree died so long ago The syrup stayed on Through heat and cold Flood and drought And it became a gemstone Admired and loved A treasure with a piece of ancient life Something more valuable than gold And it all came from a tree
