Alone Against the Cold
Your warming vigor faded long ago,
as did the thread you sewed into my chest.
I lost your pulse within the ruthless snow,
but still I search without a wink of rest.
I pray your heart holds out beneath the frost,
for life is grueling when one lives alone.
To be forgotten is a hefty cost,
so help me mend the strand that you had sewn.
Please think of me wherever you may be,
so that our woven hearts may resonate,
rekindling your astray tenacity
and cleaving you from this abysmal fate.
Remember me; I'll free you from the cold,
and melt the shackles of its numbing hold!
