All This Melts In Your Mouth
All This Melts in Your Mouth
The sweet taste of victory
blends sweat and tears
mellowed over time’s
slow cooking flame.
Lust’s fragrance lingering
on shirt collar and pillow
hinting of moist lips
slow drying in absence.
Slow trickle of passion
cleansing love’s palate
a teasing bouquet
to awaken new tastes.
A sunset obscured
of a prairie dust evening
diffused as it dances
to a tumbleweed lead.
Last taste of old Summer
slowly brought to its knees
Cool taste of fresh Autumn
exhaled from the trees.
Harsh sting of salt air
icy brine on the lips
dark comfort to lover’s
a warm good-night kiss.
