After the Election

All the world has gasped in shock- Finally the United States election is over, and the unknown lurks ahead for all to watch and to wonder. Even here in Canada we are so entangled and invested in the final, results, after all we share a border and a long relationship. The people of the United States and Canada are linked in so many ways, holding the same values and we have always been this way, ever friends- and I pray we always and forever remain this way. Even though the results were not what some wanted, let people put all that behind now and work for peace together. Elections can get bitter but hopefully there will be a shaking of hands. Courage is what the loser needs, I pray for this person with all my heart. Today, I am dreaming of a Utopia for our border friends with Canada, so in the next few months we will see what this new President is all about. On the surface it looks tragic to some but lets give him a chance, and not dwell on negatives but on new ideas. Who knows where that will lead? _____________________________ November 9, 2016 Poetry/Acrostic/After The Election Copyright Protected, ID 16-847-493-0 All Rights Reserved. Written under Pseudonym. Broken Wings, you have wonderful thoughts up there. I hope they come true for all of us but I don't know. Nicely put.

Yes, I thought I had seen it already. It is really good, so it ought to be a big winner!

A wonderful set of thoughts that could only come from a beautiful person. Yes, we hope. Since I am so close to new york city, I am ready to protest at the Trump Tower, but I will give him a chance to mess up first. He wants to cancel NAFTA, and that would affect both Canada and Mexico. We share our love of the peaceful border and the lovely people on both sides of both borders.

I don't know what to say about the election except you have express my feelings beautifully in your poem, BW. I worked in Myrtle Beach, SC. for many years and each year we would be host to around 35,000 Canadians during the two week CanAm Festival in the Spring. No one had better try to come between the Canadian/US relationship. (Even a president!)

I won't say anything about what I think will happen but this is very nicely thought out and penned, dear Constance. GREAT job! (I can't bring myself to do this one because she wants us to keep it light)

Yes, Constance, one can only hope and pray. As happened over here with Brexit, the people have spoken, and somebody must listen. Good luck in the contest. Viv x

We've had some pretty bad presidents over the course of our country, if he is he'll just be another one..what is different this time is we use to be home of the brave and now we are home of the frightened and weak....we've become a land of money grabbers and religious tests in love with a political party more than our country...would have been interesting to have had a women president, though some were frightened of that..maybe next time..I've seen what the men have done,

Well written, Constance, and very positive and uplifting! I am sure we won't be disappointed. A member of our family has a friend who is related to Eric Trump's wife, and we hear nothing but good things about what a lovely family they are and how kind, caring, down to earth and what a hard worker Donald is. Best wishes for the contest. Hugs, Sandra
