After God's Own Heart
David was a man after God's own heart
This I could not understand
so I had to pick it apart,
He was adulterer
a liar, and murderer too,
He did all kinds of crazy things
that he had no right to do,
But he was human, and honest
and he repented to God ,
for all the time he was amiss
and that's what we aught to do,
He sang his praises to the Lord
and gave him thanks each day
Now I'm trying to live right
and give thanks and praise daily
So that when the rising starts
I will hear God say clearly
That I'm a woman after His own heart.
