'acting Out'
If someone “acting out” wears “his heart on his sleeve”
Makes the rest of us wonder what love’s really like
But then “acting” suggests a duplicitous stage
Possibility rising of head on a spike!
Could it be all the hubbub is meant to deceive,
That it’s simply a cover for uncontrolled rage?
How can love that is love not support those you love,
How not lift up your lovers as though they were self?
Is your love born to serve or provide for your need?
What if love should demand you put pride on the shelf
Or your own expectations be stripped like a glove,
Love a child that your adult has reason to feed?
I think love that’s mature doesn’t care where it stands
Understands that love given can never be owned
Finds its reason for living in “soup of the day,”
And then dreams that such love may be possibly cloned.
Ever mindful that love isn’t served by demands,
True love finds its fulfillment in who wants to play!
