A Storm Is Brewing
A Storm Is Brewing
A storm is brewing, ol’ Jack Cody,
The river’s risin’ fast.
A storm is brewing, ol’ Jack Cody,
The drought is broke at last.
Ain’t rained a drop since five years gone,
The tanks have long been dry.
Grass been dead for a long, long time,
No use in wonderin’ why.
Your wife left near a year ago,
Girl friend was close behind.
Sold the cows when the windmill broke,
Ain’t nothin’ on your mind.
Never said Texas was easy –
But I’ll grant this is tough.
Just startin’ over now and then
Takes about all your stuff.
But this here piece of real bad luck
Looks like it’s ‘bout over
Instead of watchin’ sandstorms blow
He’s ‘bout to plant some clover!
A storm is brewing, Ol’ Jack Cody,
Come out and smell that rain.
Ain’t nothin’ quite as healin’ as
Storms rollin’ cross the plains.
