A Sandy Hook Prayer

If you need angels take me dear Lord,
I’ve lived a life long and full.
Give me wings dear Lord, you are the king
I’m ready for your heavenly pull.
If you need angels leave the cherubs,
Spread their cheerful glory here.
Dear Lord you are the king, give me wings,
Their smiles and laughter ring through the years.
If you need angels come and get me,
Not a precious tiny child.
Give me wings dear Lord, you are the king.
Save those dancing innocent smiles.
If you need angels I am willing.
For their safety I will pray
Dear Lord you are the king, give me wings
And please let the littlest angels stay.

This was a fine poem for the Poetry Soup Vigil - something in which I chose not to participate:- Reality in my country is too close to the bone. I hope you understand. I value YOUR life on par, even though I applaud the noble sentiment expressed here. Love and Peace, Su

The sooner we grieve and not avoid and compartmentalize, the sooner we all can move on--in a more cleansed and purposeful manner. Just as after 9-11 they stopped showing the disturbing images---BULLCRAP--remember the Alamo.
