A Roller Coaster Ride

**A Roller Coaster Ride** Swirling around the albatross on my leather seat Hanging upside down and gliding on the steel castors that are suspending me Hands above the metal bars and inside my safety zone Zippin’ and zaggin’ around the twists and bends Who can dare ride this thing? Who can endure multiple twists and turns? Defying gravity and defying my stomach all at once Addicted to the high that can only be derived from the amusement park scene As I climb the highest point on the track the people become amusing Tiny little ants arranged all orderly on their own theme park rides We’re climbing, and climbing, and climbing to the highest height Once we are at the pinnacle my heart s..k..i..p..s a natural beat Holding hands with my best bud as we scream bloody murder WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! This is the best day of my life! Caught all this in a photograph in my mind of what the future will be My heart beat slows The ride comes to a screeching halt The clanging of the metal castors resonates a loud disappointment ………………………….. This….. ride…. is….. over…. ……………………………. But this was just a dream anyways (sigh!) I will come back and go through this dream one more time My hand is all sweaty for I was holdin’ on for dear life What a dream! I can even smell the corn dogs and the cotton candy! What a dream! What a roller coaster ride! Written by Gwendolen Rix 9-9-14
