A Poet's Need

Writing a poem is like an itch; it's an urge that, with thought, one can ignore, and it will cease to be eventually. However, this is one itch that it feels, to me, like a tragedy to lose - for it's the result of a muse's bite, not a meddlesome insect. I discovered, two long years ago, that the only way to scratch this one is to let the words course through you - only a trickle of thought at once, but over time a veritable cataclysm of contemplation; the waters of writing must flow.
