A Paradox
We humans tend to dwell on the past
Our triumphs, our mistakes, our uncertainties
Realizing where we could have done better
Had we had the ability to know what was to come
Of course, how were we to know
How could we have possibly predicted the innovations
That were just around the next bend
These astonishing accomplishments of human ingenuity
I dwell on the past but I also look to the future
To all the amazing new ideas
Aimed at making life simpler
But at the same time a lot more complex
A paradox perhaps?
