With cavemen like grunts they extract themselves from their pit Unable to communicate on a level you can understand … spouting three letter syllables such as ‘IDK’ and ‘meh’ Eyes red from lack of sleep, but what do they care Too much time playing on their computers and phones You worry they don’t interact with ‘real’ friends Your fridge gets raided; milk is glugged and gulped Cereals and bread disappear at an alarming rate When you open your cupboards they are bare The beast then stumbles into the bathroom When they finally emerge you gag under a cloud of deodorant Try asking them a question about what time they will be home … They react as if you are subjecting them to interrogation This species is not uncommon – many of us have one in our house TEENAGERS! Received N/A in a Contest finalised on 04/05/2016 submitted to second chance#3 sponsored by Broken wings 04~03~16

Did they ever say, "Take me to your leader?" That ought to be a dead giveaway! As one who is only just leaving his teenage years I can vouch for this *head down low* ... though one thing I was always proud of was I was probably the least picky of all my friends when it came to food, I liked pretty much everything (except American cheese and ketchup) ... this was a great idea for this theme, very entertaining and accurate :)

Thanks Timothy - you are the opposite of my son - he adores cheese and has ketchup on almost everything lol. I will extend the idea after the contest maybe you can give me some pointers lol:-) hugs jan xx

Thank god I'm forever out from that period in my life! Believe we were more sane then, and we wore normal clothes, had a cleaner vocab, wore proper haircuts, and so much more. My appetite was such my mother called me a vaccum cleaner – food didn't last long in our house. Best to you in the contest./ M

Thanks Maurice... and I guess we were healthier with less junk food and more active with no computers to distract us! We escaped pretty lightly with my son :-) this is based on observation and working with teenagers in school lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Wow, I LOVE this , JAn. I would certainly place one like this in a contest of this nature if it were mine. This is not really a new species, but the way it "interacts" today IS certainly different from in MY day.

Thanks Andrea - just went for a fun take on the theme - its not a new species but it is alien to a mum and I agree how they have evolved as a 'species' since we were growing up lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Thanks for the vote of confidence Shadow - I doubt it is what Anthony is looking for but I have to go with humour on the subject:-) :-) I was wondering about posting the pic of Harry Enfield as 'kevin the teenager' but I don't know if he is known apart from the UK lol:-) hugs Jan xx

You paint a very realistic picture, Jan. Here we have the type of the average teenagers, although they start their 'training' at a much younger age! I would call them "Aliens in the House"! hugs // paul

LOL Paul - I am thankful we escaped teenage years relatively unscathed - couldn't resist this tongue in cheek write - doubt it is suitable for the contest but it is destined for my book in the future lol:-) hugs Jan xx
