A New Dawn
After cancer and after surgery
I returned to work and the [poetry scene
My eyes have seen the face of death
I continue to hope
that one day the various peoples
of the world will get along
I realize that the tides of peace
arrange themselves
in patterns which are difficult for us to understand
After all - we are mortal and fallible
Yet there strength
in all of us
Which comes forth
in the most trying of circumstances
