A Magical Thing Called Books
As I shut the door, I lock myself away from reality. I pick up my book and prepare for my journey to another dimension. I lay down on my bed and crack open the portal.
The words start flying off the page; the room around me starts to slowly fade away. I no longer inhabit Earth, but instead a realm like no other.
I watch as new characters welcome me in with arms wide open, while familiar characters beckon me home.
I stand as an observer from the sidelines as the scenes play out like a movie; each word pulling me deeper and deeper into this make believe world.
But then I hear it; something calling me back to reality, "Dinner's ready!"
And just like that I'm back in my room with more than an hour passed. I slowly close the portal, set it on my beside table, and head upstairs.
Until we meet again.
