A Gray Dawn

The darkness befalls on us Leaving us blind to our awaiting fate Climbing on the bodies of my brothers and sisters We were the dogs of war To honor ourselves and country Each night rains of metal pierce flesh Screams of anger and agony can be heard The soil drenched with the blood of our friends and enemies Flashes of fake suns burn the soiled ground There is no safety in these trenches No safety in our faith No safety anywhere anymore Days and night pass by Smaller our family becomes We carry the tags of fallen Keeping their souls alive Our cause has began to fade But our will is always strong On the horizon the first rays of red-orange light break through We see the horror that the twilight hides The skies and earth burnt by the fake suns The rivers and oceans red with blood This is war's true face.
