A Gift
Life for me has been a gift;
It is nothing that has been earned.
I recieved it on my birthday,
And from it, many things I've learned.
It can be full of surprises
This I have been told.
The content is uncertain,
And i don't know what it might hold.
Sometimes what I get
Isn't what I expect to find,
But I make the best of every situation
And keep a thankful mind.
There are many aspects to it
That cause disappointment as well as delight,
And if it happens to get broken
There are friends who make it work right.
I use it to its fullest potential
To please the One who gave me it,
And because of all those reasons,
Life for me has been a gift.
