A Friend For Life

I was just a young girl of nine or ten When I found something so special It drew me in and kept me there I was lost in its trance Quietly alone in my imagination I read, my first novel I remember the author Someone unexpected Julie Andrews, and the title was Mandy I can still remember small details Of my first novel, it opened my soul Up to all around me. Enchanting and forever How for oh!, such a short time A story becomes a friend Entwined until it is finished Always sad, aching for more At the conclusion.

I know the feeling. That's why it is so hard to part with books, they do feel like friends. In answer to your question about grieving. In some ways it may be more difficult for men to express their pain, we are taught it is unmanly to show emotion. However burying the pain results in much longer lasting problems. The pain will release in some way and that can cause greater problems.

Oh yes, I love this. It pulls up those old feelings I remember when I read my first real novel. I read The Hobbit at about ten...I was in another world...amazing feeling!
