A Final Kiss

I lived my life inside my head Closed off from every season When death came calling my brother home My world suddenly had no reason I had chased fortune and prestige Always filling up my coffers Now devoid of any emotion I had nothing I could offer And when we buried him that day I thought only of myself Whispered, “I love you, I should have always said” Then gave him a final kiss

Oh my, Christine. Heartwrenching. Sometimes it's so hard for us to see the important things in life, until it's too late. Jim

Thank you for your comments Brenda- I am now sure he knows how much I love him-it took time for me to come to that understanding.

Thanks Tim- This was several years ago and now I am comforted in the belief that he knows how much I love him- I just couldn't see that at the time of his death.
