Author's Notes:  Another free verse poetic thought piece this time looking at one's existence and one's relationship to the ethereal world.  (Gary Bateman - September 28, 2014)

At a moment in my life long, long ago — I had a dream of an ethereal existence, Transcending the very mortal bounds of existence. What a sublime notion worthy of thought; To be an “Entity” beyond our mortal existence. My thoughts are there, each and every day; Moving outside of “Everydayness.” What a moment to behold while looking In the vortex of life: past, present, future. Who will be my Sage? my Guide? Questions pervade my Soul, my Being. When I awaken will I remember or Continue living as a one-dimensional person? My dream world should be my reality. My real world should be not—or is this so? Love that question at the end. This poem has me contemplating some truly out-of-the-world things. Lovely piece that I very much enjoyed reading. It welcomes ethereal thought and nudges one toward thinking beyond reality....I'm a big dreamer myself, so this piece of writing attracts me. Thanks for sharing your work! Always, Laura

Hello Laura . . . Glad you liked this one. I enjoy these themes too very much. Maurice Yvonne commented that he thought my "dark theme poems" were my passion. I do enjoy those naturally, but I am really an eclectic writer at heart. I like to explore multiple ideas and venues. I'm a big dreamer too. Best!! Gary

Questions that we each may find answers to that differ greatly. A very deep and fine write my friend and the heart of it is quite profound. Without doubt a solid 7 rating..

Robert . . . Thanks so much for the various reads of some of my poetry today. I am planning to read more of your works as well. In four more days I will have been with PS two months. And I'm getting revved up to get more products produced over time. I am quite pleased that you like "The Dream." I will be in touch. Cheers, Gary

I have always thought that this thing we call fantasy walks hand in hand with reality. Great write, Gary.

Maurice, Thanks for your read and comment here!! Fantasy and Reality often mirror each other more than most of us think or realize. Cheers and Best Wishes, Gary

Gary,...Such an enthralling journey from first couplet to satisfying last. You allow the reader to enter your poem and ponder. Thus the reader becomes part of your composition and is left with the feeling of having been on a most satisfying journey There's a subtle, enthralling undersong throughout your poem. There are flashes of color in each couplet... Bravo, Gary.....YF, Gene

Gene my friend . . . thanks for your read here and for your exceptionally kind observations and words. Sometimes, the more simple writes, when the metaphors are shaped a certain way can have just as big of an impact as longer more detail-laden poems. These ethereal type topics are always quite interesting to ponder. Continued Best Wishes Gene . . . Cheers, Gary

wouldn't it be lovely if our dream world were the real world? I think many have thought on this!! You describe it wonderfully.

Very deep and philosophical, Gary. You've given us much to ponder...A separate entity...Ah...but we are bound by time and place! Thanks for your visits today. It's been a pleasure. Hope your mirror is kind to you and not like mine has been of late. :) I'm 47....

Eileen ... thanks for your wonderful comment here! My mirror is kind to me face-wise, because I still look relatively young there, but my body is of one who will be "63" on October 14th. Look forward to our continued exchange of ideas and professional association. All the Best, Gary (P.S. I agree that we are bound by time and place too!!)
