A Dead Night
A dead night; empty but sharing its tale
The stars have gone, and the darkness has prevailed
There’s no light, and it will never come to be
The moon is lost, but the people need to see
A dead earth; decaying, forgotten and hurt
The sun has fled, and every truth turns to despair
There is no love, and to remember is to fall
The world is dead, and there was never a before
A lonely place, with barely any trust
The light is gone, and all faith lies in the dust
I dread the day when I finally come to know
That there was light, and there was always our hope
A dead night; broken by what we conceive
My dreams are gone, and my nightmares bring disease
No more life, but fear has taken my soul
My prayers are lost, and beneath me stalks a hole
A dead earth; devoid of anything true
I closed my eyes, just so I could see the proof
I wake again; the night has told me its tale
The sun now shines, and I understand why we must prevail
