A Child Is Born
I was there with Herod the king.
I heard his voice raised in panic and fear.
Often he would mumble about a threat on his throne.
Now I know it was a child he bemoaned.
I knew of his plan to be rid of him,
So with sadness in my heart I abandoned my king,
for such a man I cannot serve.
I followed the wise men to Bethlehem
and found the Child, wrapped in strips of cloth.
the Prince of peace,
my new King.
I knelt before Him.
A garment of purple,
befitting a King,
I presented to Him.
