Sleepless Nights

Eighteen years of wondering Friends fast turning into enemies Hearts in pain Love in vain Life filled with bitterness Death now a home of sweetness People no longer find rest Even after putting in their best Thieves were meant for the night But you stole from me at daylight I looked up to the sky And bent down to cry For all I could see was empty promises And mere wishes A pillar of cloud by day A consuming flame A pillar of fire at night Bright enough to blind the eyes Water from stony rocks Fiery serpents to scourge Manna from the skies So much more lies behind these yearning eyes Which you’ve denied sleep Until this deep dark hour!
