" Demon's Deep "
What a way to go we say~
What a way to play~
Hand dealt us from top the deck~
So we bet it all ... no care o'wreck~
Sailed in to an atoll's maze~
Sun a'hotter than many a day's~
High at noon was reefline seen~
Amid seaglitter & deepblue sheen~
Aback her tops'ls as she flew~
Taught her main & wild her screw~
Thusly did'st our schooner fly~
Toward hot breakers mile high~
A serpent's path then before us~
Which & when the answer thus~
Seen between hard crashin' waves~
Path to glory... or an end to days~
So she rode then toward that reef~
Silent as a burglar thief~
Sneakin' in to demon's lair~
In our minds no chance nor prayer~
Then from high at topmast seen~
A bolt bright hot & strangely green~
Down to her deck it struck a'flyin'~
Lightnin' bold & wind a'cryin'~
Split she was from stem to stern~
Not even chance to her wheel turn~
Then was all put hard to stop~
As sky black began to drop~
Sea succumbed to sky above~
As does soft will of one in love~
All was still & no sound heard~
'Cept that demon's evil word~
"Damn ye sailors damn ye all!"~
Thundered he from deep below~
"Down here now I drive ye deep!"
Off her decks we then did leap~
"Now your souls I'll forever keep!"
Strangest thing sudden happened us~
No sailor had thus foreseen it thus~
For then we sailed far high aloft~
Upon a ship of clouds so soft~
A warm wind blew & we all felt~
Another hand had us been dealt~
Again we'd play for all of time~
We'd sail forever this sea sublime~
